Heat-Resistant Spacer Mesh for Radiator Cover
Safetots, a UK child safety brand, wanted to solve a real risk: children touching hot radiators at home. But simply adding a cover was not enough—the material had to resist heat, create a safety buffer, and still allow airflow so heating performance would not be affected.

Defined Multi-Requirement Problem
Peter Boast needed a material that could handle long-term heat exposure without deformation or aging, provide enough thickness for protection, and still keep excellent breathability and moisture transfer to avoid heat accumulation affecting indoor heating.
4mm Spacer Structure Solution
We developed a spacer mesh fabric with about 4mm thickness. The middle support yarn created a stable structure with elasticity, forming a protective buffer layer that helps reduce surface temperature feeling during accidental touch.
Through-Airflow Mesh Design
The fabric used a double-face through-hole structure, allowing air to move freely in three dimensions. This enabled fast heat exchange and dissipation, preventing heat from being trapped inside the radiator cover.
Polyester Stability & Product Realization
The material was made of polyester, giving it good heat resistance and dimensional stability for long-term use. Through Mefiss Hometex, we also produced finished radiator covers, ensuring the solution could be reliably applied in real products.
Outcome
Results
The product received strong feedback in child safety use. Its breathable, supportive, and comfortable structure was later adopted in mattress side panels and became a widely used functional mesh design.
