In 2016, at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics exhibition, we met an experienced engineering contractor seeking a material that could improve structural stability while simplifying on-site construction.

Step 1

Functional Requirement Mapping


Close collaboration with the contractor helped clarify that the material needed to go beyond traditional textile functions. The focus was placed on erosion resistance, structural reinforcement, and vibration buffering. Based on this, we positioned the solution as an engineering material rather than a standard fabric.


Step 2

12mm Thick Structure


A spacer mesh with approximately 12mm thickness was developed to provide both support and internal buffering space. The middle spacer yarn structure created elastic resilience, allowing the material to absorb ground vibration and reduce stress concentration within slope reinforcement systems.


Step 3

Dual-Surface Design


A differentiated surface structure was engineered. The front side used a large-hole mesh to allow concrete to penetrate and form mechanical interlocking during pouring. At the same time, we designed the back side with a dense flat structure to prevent slurry leakage and ensure construction consistency.


Step 4

Construction Efficiency Optimization


Ease of installation became a key design factor. By optimizing flexibility and handling performance, we made the material more convenient for slope laying. Compared with traditional methods, the solution simplified the process, reduced labor complexity, and improved overall construction efficiency.


Outcome

Results

The 3D mesh was successfully applied as a slope reinforcement layer in railway projects, improving structural stability and construction efficiency. It has since been widely adopted in slope greening and infrastructure applications as a mature solution.
